I make beautiful handcrafted one-off wire sculpted jewellery as Moonbeemz Designs. I started making jewellery many years ago, and concentrated mostly on gemstone beads. As an astrologer I found that the planetary energies I was teaching and writing about, also had a connection with natural crystals and gemstones and I developed a love of them. There is something so satisfying making beautiful items from nature's treasures.

I wanted to present them as best I could, so I learned how to wire wrap with sterling and 14k gold filled wire. It was a fun process and I found the best thing to do was to let the gemstone itself dictate the direction the wire would take. This had some really unusual results and each and every one I make is a surprise and delight. Now I have incorporated "weaving" wire as well, and the results are far beyond my expectations, lovely. These pendants will last a lifetime with basic care and I feel so happy when they find their new homes.

I started wire wrapping gemstones a few years ago and it's been a passion ever since. Coming to love the gemstone beads, it seemed natural to look for and work with polished stones and larger examples of the wonderful bounty of beauty nature provides us. I found precision cut cabochons rather difficult to work with, as wire has a mind of it's own sometimes and will go where it will. So I tend to specialise in unusual shapes and forms, especially natural raw crystals. What better way to benefit from their properties?

I use .925 Sterling silver wire of different gauges, usually 20-22g, and usually dead soft for flexibility. Making a frame around a stone requires a harder form, half hard, so it will hold it's shape. The gold wire is 14k gold filled, also called 'rolled gold' and is a 14k plating over sterling silver. This wire is absolutely beautiful and will last a lifetime.
